We Want to Hear From You

One way to get involved in your neighborhood and see what's happening is to attend our monthly neighborhood meetings -- and to vote on the business of Windom Park Citizens in Action, your neighborhood organization.

This month's meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 23 (moved back one week due to the Celebrate NE parade), at the Windom Park Recreation Center, 2251 Hayes St. NE, Minneapolis. Enter via the north end of of the Pillsbury School complex.

On the agenda this month: continuing discussions with the city about the need for Johnson Street traffic calming and other transportation issues, bylaws changes, park activities update, and park budget discussions. Finally, let us know what's on your mind during Open Forum, your time for any announcements or pronouncements not already on the agenda that you'd like to make.

Accessible location near bus lines. Free parking and free "Kids Corner Hang-Out" child care supervised by park staff during this meeting. Call us to request other accommodations seven business days in advance.

A major Thank You to the three Windom Park businesses who donated door prizes for our Holiday Social meeting in December!

Thank you, Mother Earth Gardens, Healing Elements, and The Mill NE for your generosity to our neighborhood. And congratulations to the lucky winners who took home some nice stuff!

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (of Composting)

Thanks to all who joined us for our February neighborhood meeting to learn the best ways of environmentally friendly backyard composting to keep pets, wildlife, kids and your neighbors safe, sound and happy. With WPCiA's backing, City Council Member Kevin Reich agreed to move forward with a proposal to change the city's composting ordinance. We'll continue to follow the progress on this topic and report back to you.

"Kids Corner Hang-Out" Available During Meetings

Interested in attending the monthly WPCiA neighborhood meetings at the Rec Center but wondering what to do with your kids during meeting time? Bring them along to enjoy the new Kids Corner "hang-out" program, supervised by Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board staff at the rec center during our WPCiA neighborhood meetings. Games, toys, occasional treats, movies and more will be offered! It's free and open to the public. The service is available during scheduled WPCiA neighborhood meetings at the rec center on the third Tuesday of the month from 7-9 p.m. (Check here for any last-minute schedule changes.)  Participating children must be toilet-trained. Parent or guardian must register at the rec center's front desk (2251 Hayes St. NE) or at minneapolisparks.org.
