Windom Park Citizens in Action - Neighborhood Meeting
Attending: 21
Called to order at 7:10 p.m. by co-president Kevin Reich. Motion was made, seconded and carried to approve agenda. Motion was made, seconded and carried to approve minutes. There was no action made by the Treasurer during the month of March, therefore there was no Treasurer's report presented. Staff announcements were passed around via orange folder.
Home Improvement Program '08 - Announced. Postcard to be mailed as reminder of funds available.
NRP Legislation Follow-Up - Senate committee unanimously passed; legislation has moved on to Tax Committee.
Central Ave. Small Area Plan Discussion - Land use committee reviewed plan. New plan includes open plaza and main building of approx. 6-7 stories set back from sidewalk. There was open discussion. Recommendation: Windom Park to send letter on letterhead agreeing with Cuningham's Central Ave Small Area Plan and announcing that Windom Park is against county road widening.
Tree Task Force Update - Arbor Day event is April 26, 8:30 a.m. Will be relocating “Wind in the Trees” to grassy knoll. Also announced plans to re-tree one block of homes within Windom Park. Task force asked that there be a final decision on what block to re-tree by April 1. Choices:
1800 block of Johnson
1900 block of Taylor
1800 block of Fillmore
22nd block of Buchanan
Stinson Pkwy Task Force Update - Objection letter referring to no secondary path on Stinson was not heard at Citizen Advisory Committee. Letter will be heard at next Grand Rounds CAC Meeting (April 9th).
18th Ave Bike Trail Update - Separate bike path from Monroe Street to River will go ahead. Motion was made and amended that WPCiA support parking bays and original concept for separate bike path on 18th Ave. with an upgrade to code. 1st: Nancy Przymus, 2nd: Lilly Bubser, Amended by: Kevin Reich and carried.
New Walking Program - announced by Sheila Biernat.
Open Forum - Lilly Bubser discussed the possibility of extending voting privileges to other non-profit neighborhood organizations at 2nd Precinct meeting. There was discussion, but no action was taken.
