Windom Park Citizens in Action - Neighborhood Meeting
Attending: 20
Called to order at 7:07 p.m. by co-chair Doron Clark
Motion was made, seconded and carried to approve agenda with addition of Don Anderson to speak at end of meeting.
Motion was made (Bubser), seconded (Mike Balistreri) and carried to approve minutes.
NRP Policy Board member Debbie Evans presented details of the “Framework for the Future” document. Motion (Don Anderson): WPCiA draft a letter to Paul Ostrow regarding Framework for the Future report stating:
(1) What type of long-term funding is being pursued and has the city council pursued this via the state legislature?
(2) Governance board does not adequately represent the neighborhoods.
(3) An independent governing board that is neighborhood-driven is needed, with at least 50 percent of seats allocated to neighborhood organization representatives.
(4) To ensure long-term planning and implementation, program should not be placed under city department or subject to annual budget process.
Letter will ask for a response in writing before Feb. 19 WPCiA meeting or by attending next WPCiA neighborhood meeting to reply in person. State legislators, remainder of city council, mayor, and NRP Work Group will be cc'd. Motion seconded by Molly Coyne and carried. Letter will be circulated to neighborhood e-mail list. All are encouraged to contact their city council member and legislators about this issue.
Central Avenue Plan Update was presented by WPCiA rep Chris Bubser.
NE Library renovations update was presented by WPCiA rep Molly Clark.
Computer lab is coming to park building lobby, reported Anthony Papa.
City Council Member Paul Ostrow provided update on Porky's complaints.
Board officers for 2008 terms are: Doron Clark/Kevin Reich, co-chairs; Lilly Bubser, vice chair; Jennifer Massoll, secretary; Nicole Erdmann, treasurer. Following other announcements, meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
